Younger age and higher measured motor competence were the main factors associated with children's perceptions of their movement skills. Other correlates differed between locomotor and object control skills, with four factors explaining 5.7% and 7.5% of the variation in these perceptions, respectively.

In Scotland, perceiving more dangers was generally associated with lower odds of children experiencing outdoor play scenarios, whether the respondent was a parent or practitioner. The association with perceived danger was no longer statistically significant when perceived benefits were included in the model.
